Weekend Retreat April 2015

The Seekers Trust, Addington, West Malling, Kent.
April 10th-12th

Dependent Origination

Picture
Dependent Origination (paţiccasamuppāda) is the Buddha's explanation of how states of existence come to be and how they condition each other, and understanding of which leads to awakening and the end of suffering.

During this weekend we will be investigating this essential teaching by contemplating the 12 links in the chain of Dependent Origination.  According to these teachings, no beings or phenomena exist independently of each other. We will also reflect on this teaching as a tool to help us understand how our perceptions and thoughts of liking and disliking propel us into grasping our experience as ‘me’ and ‘mine’ which cause us much stress in our lives.

The weekend will include periods of sitting and walking meditation as well as recitations, teachings and reflections on the theme.  The retreat will begin on Friday, 10th April at 6.00p.m. and finish at 4.00 p.m. Sunday, 12th April. All meals will be vegetarian.
For further information about what to expect on a retreat and for a booking form please click on the buttons below.  A suggested fee/donation of £145 will cover the costs of retreat, if you are on a low income and would like to attend please contact us to enquire about the possibility of a bursary.

Dana and ways to give
We believe no-one should feel unable to attend a retreat because of financial difficulties, and aim to offer subsidised places when possible.  Retreatants who can afford it are therefore invited to make additional contributions, to enable us to offer subsidized places to those unable to afford the full cost of a retreat.  Read more >>>

The Seekers Trust is a healing centre, founded in 1932 by Dr Lascelles.  It is a place of quiet and reflection and has both residential and guest accommodation.  Within its almost 40 acres of grounds and woodlands, the Trust has various facilities and we are welcome to absorb the healing atmosphere, walk in our grounds, the Rose Garden, and use their other facilities.
